New allegations have placed the Bank of France under scrutiny after a complaint accused it of facilitating financial transfers linked to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Plaintiffs allege the bank authorized transactions totaling 3.17 million French francs during the genocide despite a UN arms embargo, raising questions about its oversight and potential role in enabling weapons purchases. The Bank of France says it has no archival record of the transfers and noted the amounts could have been routine operational expenses.
